Fjords of Norway

Abisko Adventure

Visit the Norwegian Fjords This is the perfect tour for those who love magnificent views and want to be guided over the mountains from Abisko, Sweden and further down to the fjords in Norway and the North Atlantic. The spectacular scenery that meets us as we head into Norway makes this tour something very special. The Norwegian mountains rise majestically around fjords and lakes and the sea never completely freezes even in winter. For those who like photography, this is a trip you don’t want to miss. During the tour, we make a number of stops at especially interesting geological and historical places which provide several opportunities for nature and landscape photography. Along the road there are also remains and monuments from the border guard and the battle of Narvik from the Second World War. The stretch itself is also a historic stretch as the road runs parallel to the Rallarleden, which has remained since the railway was built to be able to transport ore from the mine in Kiruna to the port in Narvik. Now in modern times, Rallarleden is a popular trail for hiking and mountain biking. During the tour, a slightly longer stop is also made for a packed lunch at a suitable place for the day. The tour departs by minibus from Abisko and continues west along Torneträsk. We then continue across the Skanderna and cross the Swedish-Norwegian border at Riksgränsen and Björnfjäll before we continue down towards the fjords around Narvik and the Norwegian mountain massifs. Aurora Snowshoeing in Abisko

Abisko Adventure

Capture the true feeling of a winter night in the Arctic on our Aurora tour in Abisko, Swedish Lapland. Your guide will take you out to learn the wintry way of moving around using snowshoes. As you walk across the snow, you'll experience how the soft moonlight casts an ethereal glow onto the snowy landscape - and perhaps catch sight of dancing auroras borealis should the skies be clear enough. Abisko has many animal inhabitants who make their home within its birched forests throughout the colder months; therefore your chances of spotting various wildlife footprints along the trail are high. You can expect to find traces left behind by hares, grouse, fox, voles or maybe even reindeer! We stop for a short rest halfway where you can sip hot lingonberry juice whilst listening solely to nature – just the rustle of leaves above and gentle whispers amongst the fell peaks. With luck, this could all happen under the magical display of aurora australis shimmering gently over Lake Torneträsks surface and beyond towards distant mountainsides. On nights when both the Moon is at fullness and conditions allow us perfect visibility upwards (a rare but beautiful occurrence), guests often remark about being able to witness breathtaking views stretching far off yonder including glimpses of 'Lapporten', arguably among Scandinavia´s finest natural rock archway structures carved directly into solid granite bedrock millions upon millions years ago by glacial forces acting slowly yet inexorably overtime...
