With this guided e-bike tour in your own language, you’ll have an even greater appreciation for the historical city of Naples—its plazas, castles, impressive monuments, not to mention its rich history, vibrant culture, and colorful atmosphere. Once you’ve chosen the best bikes for our group size and done some practice riding them, we’ll meet up at Neapolisolare Green Station, which sits right on old Via Spaccanapoli in the very heart of the historic district. From there, we’ll pedal down via Decumano Inferiore past landmarks like Piazza del Gesú, Piazza San Domenico Maggiore, and Piazzetta Nilo until we hit the coastline. Along the way, we’ll make short sightseeing stops so I can explain what we see around town. For example, near City Hall Square, home to Maschio Angioino Castle built back in the thirteenth century. Next, we’ll head over to grand Piazza del Plebiscito square to check out the columns outside the royal palace and visit one of the oldest continuously operating theaters in the entire world: The Royal Theatre of Saint Charles. After that, we’ll follow the seaside promenade all the way to Borough Marina, site of another famous local landmark known as Egg Castle or Ovo Fortress dating back to twelfth century times. There, we’ll learn about Mount Echia ruins believed to mark the spot where Greeks first founded their colony here under the name Parthenope. And while exploring these sites, don’t worry if my stories sound familiar because they might just remind you of tales involving sirens singing sailors ashore or Virgils legendary magic eggs! Finally, before heading off toward sunset, enjoy breathtaking views across Napoli Bay framed perfectly against the backdrop of Mt. Vesuvios smoking peak plus glimpses of Capri Island, lovely Ischia, and little sister Procidia waiting offshore...and after that? After selecting the best bicycles suited to our clients and conducting a short trial run, we set off from the eco-friendly Neapolisolare station situated on the old Via Spaccanapoli right in the middle of the historic district. From there, we pedal through Lower Decumani passing landmarks like Piazza del Gesú, Piazza San Domenico Maggiore, and Piazzetta Nilo until reaching the coastline. Along the way, we make some pitstops filled with fascinating stories about each location. For instance, near City Hall Square, home to Maschio Angioino Castle built back in the 13th century. Next up, we head over to grand Piazza del Plebiscito square to marvel at the beautiful columns surrounding the Royal Palace and Italy’s oldest continuously operating theater – The Real Teatro di San Carlo. Continuing toward the seaside promenade allows riders to safely enjoy views overlooking the water all the way out to Borgo Marinaro harbor which houses another iconic landmark -the twelfth-century Castel dell'Ovo or Egg Castle. There, visitors can learn more about Mount Echia archaeological site believed to mark the birthplace of Partenope founded here centuries ago by Greeks. As part of the narrative around these ruins, guides share tales including that of siren maiden Parthenope and her connection to nearby volcanic mountain Vesuvios plus Virgils famous “egg.” Finally, after riding past breathtaking coastal scenery featuring majestic Mt.Vesuvio against stunning backdrop adorned with Capri, Ischia & Procida Islands floating offshore…we conclude our journey!
