Osa Canyoning Adventures

The newest Canyoning experience in Costa Rica. Come and immerse yourself in nature, disconnect, and absorb your surroundings. Come and indulge in an adventure. We begin a few kilometres up the mountain with a short 20 minute trek through the rain forest to reach our starting point. The initial descent begins alongside a waterfall, allowing you to practise the technique without dealing with the water - at least until reaching the second waterfall. There are seven abseil descents along falls in total, as well as several small rapids which require careful negotiation by climbing down them, interspersed with hikes across streams between these sections. Be prepared for plenty of splashes during this trip - they're inevitable! Half way through, we stop off for a packed lunch break where you can take advantage of the unspoilt scenery around us. Things to Bring: Ensure you wear footwear and clothing suitable for being soaked or even submerged if needed. Should you expect any lengthy travel back to your accommodation post excursion then perhaps consider bringing spare clean attire too. You should definitely carry drinking bottles; cameras could prove useful but remember their waterproof capabilities when considering use within flowing waters. One item most likely unnecessary would be sun cream due to limited exposure outside the dense foliage provided by the surrounding trees throughout much of the day. It isn't required either because once again you'll become drenched anyway plus applying such products contributes towards pollution affecting local wildlife habitats (something everyone wants to prevent). Health & Safety Information: This activity carries moderate levels of risk associated with outdoor pursuits involving physical exertion over uneven terrain near moving water sources therefore participants must ensure fitness level appropriate prior participation...

Come and get your fill of adventure. We start a few kilometers up the mountain with a short 20 min hike through the rainforest to our starting point. The first descent starts on the side of a waterfall, so that you get to practice the process without juggling the water – at least until the second waterfall. In total, there are 7 rappelling descents down waterfalls, a handful of smaller cascades that we carefully climb down, and some hiking through the waterway between rappels. Prepare to get wet on this tour – it is guaranteed! Part-way through we’ll pause to enjoy a pre-packed snack en route and enjoy the purely natural surroundings. What to bring: Make sure you bring shoes and clothes that you don’t mind getting wet. If you have a long driving journey home/back to your hotel after the tour, you might also want to bring a dry change of clothes. A drink bottle is also essential. You may want to also bring a camera, however given that we’ll be in the waterways, it might get wet. Something you probably won’t need is sunscreen – we are only out of the rainforest a short time. The remainder of the tour we will be under the cover of the rainforest canopy and so it’s not necessary to bring sunscreen – especially since you’ll be getting wet and sunscreen pollutes waterways (which we really want to avoid). Safety Considerations: The tour is relatively physically demanding and is a relatively high-risk activity, and as a result we have certain restrictions on who can come on the tour. If you have any of the following conditions, unfortunately we cannot bring you on the tour with us: - Recent surgeries (within the last 10 weeks) - Heart problems or CVD - Unmanaged high blood pressure - Unmanaged diabetes - Parkinson’s Disease - Loss of limb (upper extremity), or physical inability to use both arms/hands - Vertigo If you are pregnant, we are also not able to take you with us. We also have a weight limit of 260 pounds (120kg) for the tour. Keep in mind that each descent will require you to slowly lower yourself down the incline – so if you have any condition that restricts the strength in your hands and forearms (or if you doubt that you can control your descent) then we likely won’t be able to take you on the tour. By joining us on the tour (and by signing our waiver), you confirm that you do not have any condition that is listed above or any condition that may preclude you from joining us on the tour.
