Full day city tour in Addis Ababa
Our visit to Addis Ababa begins at the National Museum, considered one of the most significant museums throughout sub-Saharan Africa. Among its many notable displays are remains that date back 3.2 million years—the fossilized bones of our great-great …ancestors known as "Lucy." Visitors can also view numerous imperial regalia, church artifacts, clothing, and weaponry. Some of the earliest items displayed here include stone carvings and engravings dating back to the time of Queen Sheba's reign; these were discovered nearby Axum (in present-day Eritrea). Our second destination within this full-day excursion through Addis Ababa takes us to the Ethnographic Museum housed inside the university campus. This institution has been established and maintained under the guidance of renowned Polish scientist Professor Stanislaw Chojnacki. A particularly fascinating section of the exhibit features various religious relics such as crucifixes and holy images. For those interested in folk music or cultural heritage, there is much to appreciate given the extensive array of musical instruments showcased here. Lunch for everyone involved shall be provided at a venue specializing in authentic Ethiopian cuisine accompanied by locally brewed beverages. Following our meal, you have the opportunity to ascend Mount Entoto situated approximately 10,500 ft above mean sea level. Today, atop this mountain lies a newly developed recreational area featuring several lookout points providing breathtaking vistas across all of Addis Ababa. Historically speaking, prior to Emperor Menilek II relocating his court to what would become modern-day Addis Ababa, this very site served as the nation's capitol. To commemorate this era, remnants of the royal residence remain standing even up to current days. As if rounding out the experience perfectly, guests may partake in witnessing a classic ceremonial preparation method unique to Ethiopians where freshly roasted beans give off aromas wafting upwards while sprigs of wormwood added directly into each individual drinking vessel impart upon the beverage a distinctively ethiopian flavor profile - truly setting the stage for unforgettable memories amidst lush greenery symbolizing hospitality spread generously belowfoot!
