Grange Estate
We’ll tour a historic estate originally constructed around 1730 and completed by 1761; one section inspired Danish architectural styles for an area within the Danish colony. The main crop grown here was sugarcane, providing significant revenue for the farmhouse. You can learn about architecture from the early 1700s, along with information on past homeowners—including members of the Danish royal family. Discover more about life before emancipation (in 1848) until the devastating fire of 1858 destroyed much of what we know today.
Throughout our visit you'll find remnants of Channey Plantation, rich in history tied to figures like Alexander Hamilton and his mother, Rachel Faucett. Enjoy authentic Creole cuisine served up at their café while browsing unique gifts available in their quaint little store.
