Day 1 – Arrival in Addis Ababa
Arrive at Bole International Airport and meet your Golan Tours guide. Transfer to your hotel and attend a welcome briefing covering the itinerary, safety and photography etiquette in tribal areas. Explore city highlights including the National Museum, Holy Trinity Cathedral and Entoto Hills viewpoint if time allows. Enjoy a welcome dinner with traditional Ethiopian cuisine and music. Overnight in Addis Ababa.
Day 2 – Addis Ababa to Wenchi Crater Lake
Drive west through highland farmlands to Wenchi Crater Lake. Optional short hikes along the rim or horse riding for less-mobile guests. Enjoy a guided boat trip to Kirkos Island monastery and observe endemic flora and birds. Overnight at Wenchi Eco Lodge.
Day 3 – Wenchi to Wolayta Sodo
Sunrise walk or birdwatching at the crater before driving south through the plateaus toward the Rift Valley. Stop at roadside markets and viewpoints before arriving in Wolayta Sodo for an evening orientation. Overnight at a comfortable hotel.
Day 4 – Wolayta Sodo to Dorze Village to Arba Minch
Visit the Dorze people, walking among their beehive houses, watching weaving demonstrations and sampling local enset dishes. Option for a short hike to enjoy panoramic views. Arrive in Arba Minch for lakeside accommodation overlooking Lake Abaya and Lake Chamo.
Day 5 – Arba Minch, Lake Chamo to Konso
Morning boat trip on Lake Chamo to see hippos, crocodiles and abundant birdlife. Drive to Konso and visit the cultural museum, terraced farmlands and Waka totems. Learn about sustainable agriculture and social structures. Overnight in Konso.
Day 6 – Konso to Turmi
Optional market stops at Key Afer or Dimeka. Arrive in Turmi in the afternoon with an orientation walk. Evening optional visit to a Hamar homestead or Evangadi dance performance. Overnight in Turmi lodge or community accommodation.
Day 7 – Turmi to Omorate to Turmi
Drive to Omorate, cross the Omo River and visit Dassanech villages. Learn about pastoral life, salt trade and seasonal customs. Return to Turmi for dinner and overnight.
Day 8 – Turmi to Jinka
Drive north to Jinka, visiting Ari villages en route and observing pottery-making and local agriculture. Afternoon visit to South Omo Research Center. Overnight in Jinka.
Day 9 – Jinka, Mago National Park and Mursi Village
Morning transfer to Mago National Park with a local guide. Visit the Mursi people to learn about lip plates, scarification and traditional adornments. Return to Jinka for optional craft shopping. Overnight in Jinka.
Day 10 – Jinka to Konso to Yabello
Drive north via Konso with stops for shopping and photos. Continue to Yabello and learn about Borena pastoralist customs and landscapes. Overnight at a modest hotel or lodge.
Day 11 – Yabello to Yirgalem
Drive to the coffee highlands, transitioning from semi-arid Borena to lush Sidama region. Arrive at Aregash Lodge for forest walks, coffee plantation tours and guided evening hyena spotting. Overnight at Aregash Lodge.
Day 12 – Yirgalem to Hawassa to Addis Ababa
Drive to Hawassa, visit the fish market and lakeshore promenade, and enjoy lunch by the lake. Continue to Addis Ababa with stops for coffee tasting and souvenir shopping. Farewell dinner in Addis and transfer to airport or hotel depending on flights. End of services.
